Baldwin's Book Barn, West Chester, PA & Swedesboro, NJ

Located in the historical and enchanting Brandywine Valley in Chester County, PA is a truly distinctive bookstore, Baldwin's Book Barn. This barn built in 1822 has been converted into a four story bookstore containing 200,000 books you can either buy or rent. You can feel the old charm as you walk in and find an old wood burning stove in the entrance way, low ceilings, arched doorways, rare books and art prints. There are plenty of wooden chairs where you can sit and read and even little corners by the window where you can look out at the beautiful countryside.

On our way back to North Jersey, we stopped in Swedesboro near the PA and Delaware border. Swedesboro is a small historic town in South Jersey settled by the Swedes in early 1700. The Swedes built a church and community in this town which was originally called New Sweden. In remembrance of their heritage is the Schorn Cabin located in an old graveyard on the edge downtown. This small, but appealing downtown is decorated with snowflake lights and has plenty of places to eat and have a drink. We stopped at the Black Sheep Inn (BLK SHP) which had a roaring fireplace and tapas which we enjoyed before traveling back. There was an outdoor fireplace on the patio for outdoor dining as well. A cute place to visit.
