An absolute enormous piece of history and a must see! This huge steel factory built in the early 1900 created steel for the Golden Gate Bridge, World War II ships and steel beams that hold up many skyscrapers in NYC was in operation for more than 100 years and closed in 1996. The steel stacks were heart of Bethlehem and the pride of the men and women who worked there. Although it is no longer in operation, it has been preserved so we can all enjoy this important part of history. It is magnificent. The Hoover-Mason Trestle is the walkway that runs in front of the steel stacks where you can get up close and personal. Walking along this very long area of steel stacks, transports you back more than 100 years ago. You get an idea of how these workers endured grueling dangerous work days. However, these beloved steel stacks provided a way to support the families that lived in this humble town of Bethlehem. Across the street is a new arts center that has three floors of different music venues with windows that overlook the famous steel stacks. It's a pleasure to see and a humbling experience.
