Bryant Park Christmas Village, Restaurant Row & Translvania Chimney Cakes!

Hey New York and Christmas lovers, Bryant Park Christmas Village is the place to go if you love both. Beginning in October through early January every year, Bryant Park turns into a winter wonderland with vendors surrounding an ice skating rink with music, Christmas trees small tables and chairs. It's fun to feed the pigeons. If you do, you will find many new feathered friends! Vendors line the park and sell specialty foods, hot chocolate, pet treats, ornaments, journals, beautysupplies and more. Chris and I bought a chimney cake, a novelty cake originating from Translvania. The strips of dough are wrapped around a metal tube and cooked on a rotisseri. When done, steam comes out of the top, like a chimney. Then, it is filled with all kinds of goodies, like chopped apples and whipped cream, chocolate, sugar and other delicacies. Bryant Park is just a short walking distance from Port Authority so its a convenient gem for those coming from New Jersey. You can ice skate for free if you bring your own or rent them. Skating makes the experience so much more enjoyable, particularly in the evening when you can look up at the skyscrapers and see the buildings surrounding this oasis of Christmas wonder. Gotta go.
