Connecticut is less than one hour away from my house, yet it feels like another world. Filled with lush greenery, harbors and small little towns, it is the most southern New England state. In Stamford there is Bartlett Arboretum where you can spend a few hours on the easy marked trails which conveniently weave together. Some sights you will see include ponds with frogs, boardwalks, flowers, bushes, huge trees, sensory gardens, greenhouse and native gardens. There is also a 911 memorial arbor surrounded by plants with enormous leaves and palm trees. This is really a lovely place, especially those who love the outdoors and plants. Less than 10 minutes away is another park called Waveny which is set on 300 acres and a castle as its centerpiece. On the side of the castle are rolling hills leading to a pond with an English garden with roses, fountains, colorful plants and ivy. In addition is a playground, soccer fields and a walking path that surrounds the entire park. This place is spectacular and free. You must come to Waveny. I promise you will enjoy this beautiful place.
