The New Jersey Audubon Society has many places all over the state to observe birds in their natural habitat, but the Plainsboro Audubon Preserve is one of the best. Located in Plainsboro, a beautiful area in New Jersey where there are flat lands and farms. The Plainsboro Audubon Society has a newer visitor center and many trails, both short and long. The trail we took went around the lake into a peninsula where we were surrounded by water, birds and wildlife. It was a wonderful day. One note, the trails were a little muddy in April so be sure to wear rainboots that time of year. Cost was free, can't beat that! Afterwards we stopped in historic Cranberry NJ for dinner, only five minutes from the Preserve. Will definitely come back!
