Magnificent! Previously an old NJ fairgrounds area, visionaries combined gardens and art and Grounds for Sculpture was born. Classical world renowned paintings from Monet, Van Gogh, Normal Rockwell and other famous artists are brought to life by recreating their works into sculpture form and put in garden settings that fit their portrait scene. For example an enormous sculpture of Norman Rockwell's farmer is set along side a real corn patch with a fence and old house in the back. Modern works are also on display throughout the grounds. You can put yourself into the sculpture scene and take a picture as if you were actually there. It's so much fun. Grounds for Sculpture is very large and could easily take all day to discover all its wonders. Winding paths with art sculpture scenes are found all throughout the park. Walk through flower and vine covered arbors connecting different parts of the park.
The Rat Restaurant, the more fancy restaurant on campus serves French fare and overlooks the famous Monet painting come-to-life with the green bridge over a lily pad filled pond and row boat with lotus floating on the water while mist arises from a magnificent sculpture set in the pond. Nothing short of spectacular.
The Van Gogh cafe overlooks a pond with wild flowers such as tiger lilies, tall grasses and winding paved path. The inside of the cafe has a painted ceiling from his most famous works. The gazebo serves delicious ice cream in large portions is set amid enormous leaves and flowers stemming from the unseen pond below.
