Monmouth and Mercer Counties are filled with little towns that are so charming and quaint with loads of parks and trails to explore. Allentown, New Jersey is one of those cute, little charming towns originally settled by Native Americans. Allentown is a historic town with a lake, little shops, churches and the Heritage Park. We found the entrance to Heritage Park in the center of town. We took the little boardwalk and it opened up into a really nice park with a mile loop that is paved for walking. There are benches and trees but much of it is a flat, open field. There is a lake with a bridge that goes through the center of town. It's just so nice.
