Historic Bordentown, home of Thomas Paine and Sarah Barton and a place where the first one room school house is located. This lovely, charming, historic town sits on the banks of the Delaware. It certainly looks like a town on the suburbs of Philadelphia. The brick buildings with black shutters, little alleyways and gaslights dot the streets giving it the charm it is known for. There are churches with bell towers that ring giving us the sights and sounds of times gone by. There is a trail along the delaware so you can enjoy the famous river our founding fathers sailed across. Pubs, pizzarias, candy stores, used book stores, and other charming places are found on the several main streets throughout the town. It's a really nice place to visit.
