Lake Mohawk is like visiting a little Bavarian town in Southern Germany. The main attraction is the beautiful lake with a small promenade, restaurants and a very small downtown. The architecture has a strong bavarian flair, in particularly, the ice cream shop that is the heart of the downtown across from the lake (how perfect in the Summer). Although it is a private lake, anyone can visit and walk on the small promenade and come to their well known annual German Christmas Market held every early December. There are taverns with local singers during happy hour that seem to attract the locals. One particular tavern is Krogh's Tavern. A charming, old timbered building offering homemade beers as well as local wines, such as the oh so delicious Reisling from the nearby Warwick Winery( IMHO). The bar is dotted with small lights and tables made of slices of wood, resembling a lodge. Snacks can be ordered at the bar, but they also have an area for dinner. There are several restaurants that can be enjoyed with various price ranges. I think I gave you a pretty good idea of this trip worthy place to visit.
